Starting at our “cover girl” statue of Ilchee, who some think a femme fatale, looking down the Columbia river for Europeans to arrive, let us sneak off upriver to visit Fort Vancouver National Scenic Monument, and the nearby Army Air Corps Pearson Air Field Museum. Vancouver, Washington is known to be a “bedroom” community of Portland, Oregon, but other than a restaurant or two, and one interesting inn, most visitors stay, and shop, across the river in sales tax free Oregon.
